# Quickstart

> Get from install to your first response in minutes.

## 1. Open the side panel

Click the AscentialxAI icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the side panel.

## 2. Sign in

Choose **Sign in with Google** or **Sign in with Email**. If you sign up with email, check your inbox and verify your email address before continuing.

## 3. Connect a provider

1. Open **Settings** > **API Providers**.
2. Select a provider: OpenAI, OpenRouter, Straico, or Google.
3. Enter your API key.
4. Click **Save**. The extension syncs your available models.

## 4. Select a model

Use the model selector in the chat composer toolbar or attachment menu to pick the model you want to use. You can search, filter by provider, and save favorites.

## 5. Send your first prompt

Type a message in the composer and press **Enter**. The assistant responds using your selected model.

## 6. Attach context

Click the attachment icon to add a file, image, or screenshot. The assistant can read documents, describe images, and work with the visible page.

## 7. Try a slash command

Type `/` in the composer to open the slash command menu. Try `/browser` to work with the current page, or `/memory` to save a fact you want the assistant to remember.
